Avijit is a Theatre-Maker, Actor, Filmmaker and Communications Consultant. He has been a social activist & interventionist with seminal work in Child Welfare & Consumer Affairs He's acted and directed for Theatre and TV. And acted in eminent films. He teaches Communication to Post Graduates at National Institutes of Mass Comm and Management. And delivers TED Talks at various venues.

His own featurette on Child Abuse, AkkarBakkar was screened in the Parliament and the Cannes Film Festival 2010, and extensively used for Advocacy by UNIFEM.

He has written six full length plays in Hindi & English; dramatised Hazar Churasi Ki Ma by Mahashweta Devi & been a playmaker & theatre activist.

He has two Patents applied for in Sanitation (over 50000 girls use their toilet installations) & Health Care (Over 80000 beneficiaries, whose details are in the Cloud). In the fag end of the last century he had been instrumental in launching Childline (1098) & elicited a commitment by the Government in Parliament to launch POCSO (Child Rights Bill).

As an actor he has done over 100 plays in English, Hindi & Bengali.
