Avijit Dutt
Avijit is a Theatre-maker, Actor, Filmmaker and Communications Consultant.
He has been a social activist & interventionist with seminal work in Child Welfare & Consumer Affairs
He's acted and directed for Theatre and TV. And acted in eminent films. He teaches Communication to Post Graduates at National Institutes of Mass Comm and Management. And delivers TED Talks at various venues.
His own featurette on Child Abuse, AkkarBakkar was screened in the Parliament and the Cannes Film Festival 2010, and extensively used for Advocacy by UNIFEM.

As a theatre director and actor he has done over 100 plays in English, Hindi & Bengali. He has written six full-length plays: - Bamboo Flower; Mahatma Mar Gaya ; Bombay! Bosnia! Breaking News; Noor Jahan- An Empress Reveals; Unspeakable (A solo play); 9.45 ki Express ki Citee. He has also dramatised 1084 ki Ma, by Mahasweta Devi, with Shyamanand Jalan.
He has worked as Actor, Director, Designer & Playwright. He has designed lights for Habib Tanvir’s Charan Das Chor, Sheila Bhatia’s Tere Mere Lekh (Blood Wedding), Joy Michael’s Tempest and various productions in Kolkata and Delhi. He has conducted Theatre workshops countrywide including as Co-Conductor with Badal Sircar.
As a director he has done plays by Shakespeare, Moliere, Bertolt Brecht, Peter Weiss, Badal Sircar, Buchner, Franz Wedekind etc.
He has worked intensively with Padatik Theatre Group (Calcutta) and Yatrik (Delhi).
